Position: Transcriptionists, proofreaders and translators

Native speakers only
As a matter of policy, they only assign work to people who are native speakers of the language. For transcriptionists and proofreaders, that means English. For translators, you must be a native speaker in the source language, as well as completely fluent in English.
Language proficiency
They only work with people who can compose clear and accurate English, and people who know basic grammar, who know how to spell, who know how to use the internet to research terms, who check their own work, and who deliver work which doesn’t require constant cleanup from other people. They are not looking for perfection, but they are looking for good, clean, professional work.
Reliability
Their clients count on them to deliver their work with great quality, on time. They’ll be looking for the same from you.

Payment and rate:
Babbletype pays weekly via PayPal for all work completed, regular as clockwork. Their work week starts each Sunday evening Eastern
The following are Babbletype’s current rates on a per audio minute basis. Rates vary by product type and level of difficulty:
ENGLISH LANGUAGE TRANSCRIPTION
• $0.40 – $0.60 per audio minute depending on type
• $0.45 per audio minute for typical verbatim recordings
PROOFREADING / QA (available only after qualifying in all formats)
• English language proofreading from English language sources: $0.13
• English language proofreading from translated sources: $0.18
TRANSLATION
• Spanish and Portuguese translation: $1.30 per audio minute*.
• All other languages: $1.40 per audio minute.
• Translation into Excel-type transcripts (question matching): $1.60 per minute (all languages)
• Translation quality review (translators only): $0.15
* Spanish and Portuguese rates are lower because they are the most common languages, and as a result competition has driven down pricing for these specific languages.
